Written estimate before anything else

After the diagnostic you get an itemized estimate by text or email: labor, each part with its price + 6% MD sales tax, and the total. Your reply "approved" is the go-ahead. No part is ordered and no bench work starts without it.

Parts

Billed on a separate line at our purchase price + 10% (capped at $50 per part) + 6% Maryland sales tax; receipt available on request. Bring your own part and we'll install it (labor warranty only, no warranty on the part). Special-order parts (batteries, drives, boards) are paid before we order them.

If we can't fix it

You decline the estimate, or it isn't worth fixing (our rule of thumb: if the repair costs more than about half of a replacement, we'll say so): the $49 visit is all you pay, and you keep the written findings. A flat-rate job we attempt and can't finish (malware that won't clear, data that can't be recovered): no package fee, only the $49 visit. Parts already installed at your request stay billed; unopened parts go back where the seller allows.

Same-day and next-day

Same-day visit (booked after 10 am for today) or next-business-day return on a bench job: +$30. Sunday visits are by request at regular prices.

Rescheduling and cancellation

Reschedule free any time before the day. Same-day cancellation with under 2 hours' notice, or a no-show: $35.

Warranty

90-day warranty on our labor for the specific work performed (the same warranty as our mail-in service). Parts we supply carry the manufacturer's warranty (typically 1-5 years); if one fails within 90 days we come back and swap it at no labor charge. Not covered: customer-supplied parts, unrelated failures, instability from overclocking we didn't do, malware reinfection, liquid damage, and data loss — keep backups, or ask for the backup-first add-on.

Pickup receipt and machines left with us

Before a machine leaves your home you get a pickup receipt with the model, serial number, photos, the fault in your own words, and your consent for us to have it for repair. We hold a finished machine for 30 days; after that, storage terms on the receipt apply.

Unpaid devices may be sold on or after 90 days from the day the work is completed (Md. Com. Law §16-302). This notice is printed on every intake form, estimate, receipt and invoice.

Not offered

Laptop screen and keyboard replacement, board-level soldering, liquid-damage repair, custom liquid-cooling loops, phones, tablets, consoles, printers (beyond setup), and warranty work on prebuilts still under the manufacturer's warranty — we'll tell you to use the warranty.

How Maryland sales tax shows on your invoice

Repair labor (visits, flat-rate services, bench time, remote help): no sales tax.
Parts: 6% Maryland sales tax on the parts line only. "Parts + MD sales tax" is what every parts price on this page means.
Custom builds: 6% on the whole build (parts and assembly labor) when delivered in Maryland — including builds where you supply the parts. Maryland taxes assembly labor as fabrication.
Windows installation and data recovery lines: 3% Maryland IT-services tax if it applies, shown as its own line. We'll tell you before you approve.

Mail-in repairs (Etsy)

Shipped-in desktops follow the Etsy listing terms: $125 diagnostic credited toward $300 standard labor (up to 4 hours including the diagnostic), $75 standard return shipping (UPS Ground, up to $1,000 insurance), balance billed only through Etsy's Create Custom Order, and the buyer assumes risk for the item during shipping and while in our possession (Etsy Services policy).
